Or perhaps youve had trouble growing your nails long and need assistance. This thins your natural nails making them weaker. Better yet you can usually get any nail extension you like on short nails.

So long as the natural nail is still healthy you should be good to go. If however your natural nails are damaged or diseased you must postpone the idea of getting a nail art with acrylic nails till your nails are healthy again. The purpose of filing the nail bed is to remove oil and rough the surface up so that the acrylic is able to properly adhere to the natural nail.

To get acrylic nails a type of artificial nail to stick the surface of your natural nails must be filed until they feel rough. Both can be made to match the shape of the nail or to extend it. However bitten your nails are they can be done providing the surrounding skin is not swollen and the skin unbroken.
